Set for launch in Summer 2018, and already being beta-tested, "dCal" is a drone frame calculator that aims to help DIY drone builders make lighter and stronger drone frames, using materials available locally.
Design215 founder, Robert Giordano, has been building his own drones since 2013. He has built a number of successful frames from scratch and he's been able to reduce the weight on commercially available frames by up to 60%. But this was accomplished with a lot of trial and error. Materials were purchased, cut, and then discarded because they were too heavy. Born from the need to save time and money, Robert created dCal with a materials database to help select the best combination of carbon fiber, aluminum, nylon, or wood for building drone frames.
